More than six and a half lakh women of the state will get the benefit of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami providing free travel facility in Uttarakhand Roadways buses to women above 60 years of age. Earlier, keeping women empowerment in mind, the government has implemented successful schemes like women reservation in government jobs, Lakhpati Didi, single women self-employment, Mahalakshmi Kit.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced to provide free travel facility in roadways buses to all women above 60 years of age on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This means that any woman above 60 years of age in the state will not have to pay any fare to travel in a roadways bus. While this will especially benefit the women of hilly and rural areas, the Chief Minister has announced to dedicate 10 pink e-buses to women in Dehradun under the Pradhan Mantri e-Bus service to provide safe and comfortable transport service in urban areas, which will later be expanded to the entire state.

Lakhpati Didi will now become an entrepreneur

Dhami government is running Lakhpati Didi scheme for women empowerment, under this, till now the annual income of more than 3 lakh women associated with self-help groups has crossed one lakh. Now Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced to increase the limit of concessional bank loan under Mahila Self-Employment Scheme from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh to make women entrepreneurs. With this, women will be able to raise more capital to start their own business or expand their existing self-employment. In this context, the government is also running the Single Women Self-Employment Scheme, through which emphasis has been laid on providing self-employment opportunities to women who are single-handedly handling the responsibilities of the family.

From empowerment to dignity

Taking important steps towards women empowerment, the state government has provided 30 percent reservation in government jobs to the women of the state. After this, the representation of women in government services has increased. After women empowerment, the Chief Minister has announced to build modern hi-tech toilets at major public places of the state, keeping in mind the convenience, safety and dignity of women.
